Keys History & Discovery Center Midweek Matinee
On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, the Keys History & Discovery Center will host their monthly midweek matinee. This month’s movie will be PT109 from 2-4:30PM. The cost if $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Popcorn, candy, water and soda available for sale. The Center is located at the Islander Resort, a Guy Harvey Outpost, MM82.

I Do Care 2015 – Annual Fundraiser
SAVE THE DATE for the annual I Do Care 2015 fundraiser for Island Dolphin Care on December 5, 2015, at the home of Don and Shelley Byrne in Islamorada Florida. Join the festivities with cocktails, dinner, music, silent auctions and more. Proceeds provide care for the dolphins and assist children and families, veterans and military personnel to attend programs at Island Dolphin Care.

Stone Crab Jam Festival – Islamorada Fish Company
On Saturday, December 5, 2015, the Islamorada Fish Company is hosting their first Stone Crab Jam Festival from 12-9PM at 81532 Overseas Highway. This event is free and will offer fresh stone crab and seafood, all day live island music, vendor booths, kid’s activities, giveaways and more. Live band performances include Bushwood, Baga Tricks, Reggie Paul and more!

Celebrate the Holidays at Lignumvitae Christmas
The Friends of the Islamorada Area State Parks and the staff at Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park will celebrate Lignumvitae Christmas on Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 9AM-3PM. This annual event provides an opportunity for park visitors to step back in time and enjoy an old-fashioned holiday event on the island. Boats will be leaving from Robbies Marina at Mile Marker 77.5. Admission to the park is free but there is a suggested $10.00 donation for the boat ride for park visitors 13 years and older, children 12 and younger are free. Complimentary Christmas cookies and homemade key limeade will be served. Hot dogs, hamburgers and chips will also be available for a donation.

On Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 9:30AM-12:30PM there will be a fun morning of arts and crafts for ages 8 and up at the Morada Way Classroom and Studio 140 (Morada Way Clay) Mile 81.5(O). For $10, come and create some special holidays gifts.

Florida Keys Council of the Arts “Connection Project – a Mosaic of the Keys” Workshop
Free workshop at BJ Royster Ocean Gallery, 81650 Overseas Highway, MM81.6(B). This is a workshop for people who wish to participate in the Florida Keys Council of the Arts 2016 Mosaic Project. Artists and non-artists put their creative efforts on a 6×6 canvas and returned to arts council and then the display travels the length of the Keys during the winter season. The workshop is free and all materials supplied. If unable to come to the workshop, stop by the Gallery and pick up your 6×6 canvas and register your work at www.keysarts.com

Key Largo Holiday Boat Parade
Key Largo Holiday Boat Parade Saturday, December 12th at 7:30 PM at Blackwater Sound. The 2016 theme is A Magical Christmas Fantasy. Entry to the parade is free and all boats are entered into the $500 cash drawing which is drawn at random from participating entries at the awards ceremony on Saturday night, the only boat not eligible is the Best Overall grand prize winner. There is over $1500 in cash as well as trophies and prizes to be awarded in seven categories Best Use of Theme, Best Overall, Most Colorful, Most Original, Best Business, Best Boat under 25 and Best Boat over 25 Best public viewing locations for the Parade are the Marriott Resort, Sundowners, Senor Frijoles, Jimmy Johnsons Big Chill, and the Caribbean Club. Everyone is invited to the awards ceremony beginning at 10 PM on the beach at Sundowners Restaurant. The ceremony will be hosted by local celebrities Captains Spencer Slate and Skip Bradeen.

Keys Community Concert Band – Pops in the Park
Get in the holiday mood with a concert of traditional season favorites with the Keys Community Concert Band and Jingle Bells Rock at ICE Amphitheater at Founders Park, MM87(B) on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 4 PM. Latitude 25 Writers Monthly Meeting
Last Wednesday of the Month from 7 pm until 9:30 pm at the Key Largo Library MM 101.4 (O)*** Latitude 25 is the oldest Upper Keys Literary Society and was established in 1978. Local writers of all levels get together to share what they are working on and tips of the trade. The group is small in the summer and larger in winter due to our seasonal residents.

Immerse Yourself! The History of the Diving Museum by Dr. Sally Bauer
On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, Dr. Sally Bauer, Co-Founder, will discuss how South Floridas open bottom helmets have contributed to sports diving, marine biology, underwater photography and treasure hunting. The Museum features one of the worlds largest international collection of diving helmets and artifacts. The History of Diving Museum tells the story of mankinds quest to explore, understand and venture under the sea.

ArtWalk – Morada Way Arts and Cultural District
Thursday 12/17 from 6 until 9 pm – The Monthly Third Thursday Artwalk showcases the fine arts, music and culinary nuances of the Purple Isles. The Morada Way Arts & Cultural District features national and local artisans represented in galleries at Morada Way between MM81 and MM82 (formerly named Industrial Road) – as well as “culinary art” and live music. In addition to individual artists, participating galleries include the Redbone Gallery, Gallery Morada, Pasta Pantaleo, and The Signature Gallery. Free admission.
